Chinese course objectives and contents of each level
Chinese for Beginners - B1, B2 / Pre-GCSE - Be able to master Chinese phonetic system and acquire a standard pronunciation
- Be able to communicate in basic everyday social situations with moderate speaking speed, including greetings, self-introduction, Date and Time, Family, Food, Weather, Direction and some additional vocabulary related to your situation
- Learn new 350 - 400 spoken words/expressions and 200 characters
- Get an insight into Chinese cultures, such as Chinese courtesy, the numbers and Chinese festivals.
Chinese Elementary Level - E1, E2 / GCSE 1 - Be able to communicate with normal speaking speed in a wide range of daily situations, such as asking for directions, shopping, asking for information, transport, exchange rate, travelling
- Extend you grammar knowledge by using past tense, present continuous, and future tenses
- Learn new 400 - 450 spoken words/expressions, and 300 characters; in total 750 - 850 spoken words, and 500 characters
- Have a good understanding of Chinese culture: food culture and Chinese hospitality
Chinese Intermediate Level - M1, M2, U1 / GCSE 2 & 3 - Be able to communicate in a complex social interactions, such as at a restaurant, bargainning, seeing the doctor, itinerary arrangement, telephoning
- Extend your grammar knowledge by using comparisons, contrast, ability and possibility, obligations and prohibitions
- Learn new 600 - 650 spoken words/ expressions, and 500 characters; in total 1350 - 1500 spoken words, and 1000 characters
- Have a good understanding of Chinese culture: Chinese custom and Chinese modern society
Chinese Advanced Level – U2 and above - Be able to communicate in a complex social interactions and work places, such as at a bank, applying for jobs, negotiation, university, life
- Sharpen your grammar usage by using sequence, cause and effect, conditions, expressing advice and opinions
- Learn 600 - 650 new spoken words/expressions, and 500 characters, and read Chinese newspapers; in total 1950 - 2150 spoken words, and 1500 characters
- Have a good understanding of Chinese history and literature
Chinese Proficiency Level - P1, P2 / GCSE 2 / 45-hour training - Can master communications as native speaker
- Deal with specialist areas such as Finance, Law, Commerce, Contract Negotiation and professional subjects presentations
- Learn new 600 - 650 spoken words/expressions, and 500 characters; in total 2550 - 2800 spoken words, and 2000 characters
- Have an in-depth understanding of Chinese cultural, economic and political issues
*Numbers of characters and words learned are based on our teaching experience. A realistic target is to retain 7 to 10 new characters and 10 to 12 new words per hour, provided that students do their homework between sessions.
